Youngstown, Ohio Files Complaint about Ruling on Anti-Fracking Initiative

The city of Youngstown, Ohio has filed a complaint with the Ohio Supreme Court claiming that the Mahoning County Board of Elections’ refusal to put an anti-fracking initiative on the November ballot is illegal. According to The Vindicator, the Board’s decision to not place the initiative on the ballot was largely based on a February decision by the Ohio Supreme Court stating that localities do not have the authority to limit oil and gas development under the state constitution’s home rule amendment.
