Thursday in Recess, Nominations and Gun Control Dominate Talk

DC Cycle:
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced her intention to resign from the Department of Labor yesterday. Washington is still waiting to find out who will replace Lisa Jackson at the EPA. Also, the ranking Member Of the Budget Committee, Sen. Jeff Sessions, has indicated his strong opposition to Jack Lew as the successor to Treasury Secretary Geithner. The nomination of Lew is expected today. Denis McDonough and Ron Klain have been mentioned as possibilities to succeed Lew as White House chief of staff.

Couple Items of Interest:
It was reported that Noble Energy is seeking permitting for oil and gas drilling in northeast Nevada for almost 400,000 acres of federal lands, which would mark the first use of hydraulic fracturing in the state.
