Proposed Notices of Sale Issued for March 2016 Gulf of Mexico Lease Sales

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has announced its intention to open bidding for Central Gulf of Mexico Planning Area Lease Sale 241 and Eastern Gulf of Mexico Planning Area Lease Sale 226 in New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, March 23.  Affected states can comment on the size, timing, and location of the proposed lease sales within 60 days following their receipt of the Proposed Notice of Sale.

BOEM estimates that the Central Gulf sale could generate the production of up to 460-894 million barrels of oil and 1.9-3.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and that the Eastern Gulf sale could generate the production of up to 71 million barrels of oil and 162 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
