NOAA’s National Ocean Service has announced an anticipated upcoming RESTORE Act Science Program Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO). Depending on funding availability, the FFO is expected to be released in the fall.
In announcing the upcoming FFO, NOAA also identified the Science Program’s topical areas, short-term priorities and parameters that will guide funding award decisions. Specifically, the first FFO will address RESTORE Act Science Plan Framework priorities that focus on the following topical areas:
- Ecosystem and living marine resources management-improving understanding of the Gulf of Mexico Large Marine Ecosystem;
- Climate change and extreme weather impacts on sustainability of restoration-how to incorporate aspects of climate change and weather impacts into restoration planning; and
- Integration of social/behavioral/economic science into restoration and management of the Gulf of Mexico Ecosystem
