Marine Safety Manual Update Now Publicly Available

The U.S. Coast Guard recently announced the availability of a change to Volume 3 of the Marine Safety Manual and a correspondent Commandant Change Notice.  The change took effect on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

The main purpose of the change is to incorporate 2010 amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping, update vessel manning provisions, revise discussion on the impact of multiple international standards, clarify applicability of tonnage measurement systems to U.S.-flagged vessels, and to include changes resulting from the consolidation of merchant mariner qualification credentials.
