Environmental Groups’ Intervener Request Rejected in Colorado Fracking Lawsuit

The Colorado Supreme Court has rejected a request by several environmental organizations to intervene in a legal challenge against a local fracking moratorium in Fort Collins, Colorado. The decision affirms a ruling by the Colorado Court of Appeals which found that the Sierra Club, Citizens for a Healthy Fort Collins and Earthworks “had the same interest as the city of Fort Collins and denied them the right to be party to the case,” according to a statement by legal counsel for the groups to the Times-Call.  The Colorado Supreme Court must still reach a decision on a request by the Court of Appeals to consider lawsuits against the Longmont, Colorado fracking ban and the Fort Collins moratorium.
