The Interior Department’s U.S. Geological Survey has announced that it is seeking comments by Wednesday, November 12 on its intention to seek Office of Management and Budget approval of a new information collection involving the study of habitats on coastal beaches and surrounding environments.
According to the announcement, the study will involve the collection of geographic location information, date/time of observation, site identification information, photographic images, as well as a biogeomorphic landscape classification of geomorphologic and vegetation characteristics.
Collected data will be used in research models of habitat utilization by beach-dependent species, with model output used to understand future habitat availability and utilization and to inform land and species management decisions.
