Another California County Evaluates Ban

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to prepare an ordinance to ban fracking within the northern California coastal county. The ordinance could be back in front of the board as early as July 22, according to the Mendocino Beacon. Following last month’s defeat of a bill in the California legislature to institute a statewide moratorium, local efforts to ban the practice are likely to increase. Santa Cruz, San Benito and Santa Barbara counties are also examining fracking moratoriums.
