BSEE Director Addresses Ocean Energy Safety Institute Forum, Holds Meetings in Houston

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) announced that BSEE Director Brian Salerno was recently in Houston to give remarks at the Ocean Energy Safety Institute’s Forum on Eliminating Barriers to Data Sharing and Solutions.

Among other things, Salerno called for a public database of risk-related data that will allow for its collective use to improve sharing of safety information.  He said that data included in such a database could accelerate standards development, inform relationships with original equipment manufacturers, and provide equipment reliability information.  Salerno stated that access to such information would be especially valuable for operations in new frontier areas.

BSEE also announced that during Salerno’s visit to Houston he also visited the Trendsetter Engineering facility hosted by the Helix Well Containment Group and met with original equipment manufacturers at BSEE’s new Technology Center.
